Business Outlook Magazine India Quotes Scientia Advisors on Anti-Aging Industry


Scientia Advisors Partner Amit Agarwal and Principal Bob Jones are quoted in India’s Business Outlook Magazine Oct 1, 2011 cover story about the burgeoning “anti-aging” industry. That’s a sector encompassing clinics, equipment, and skin and nutritional products which contain ingredients shown scientifically to help consumers not merely mask but actually slow the physical effects of time.

In “Needle Sharp Therapies,” reporter the author points out opportunities for traditional pharmaceutical companies to research and develop anti-aging products. According to Scientia’s Agarwal, “This is particularly true [for] companies with strong dermatology franchises.”

The article cites Scientia research showing that India’s $18B nutraceuticals market –composed of food containing supplements shown to improve heath– is growing at 15-25%, but that few such products are included in the anti-aging segment. Scientia’s Jones says the segment would increase in size if certain products based on Ayurveda were sold as anti-aging products.
